I've put together a few screencasts on running example code from the book. I'll tell you how to do it, step-by-step. Play on repeat till it makes sense.

If you're stuck on something, don't be a hero! Everyone needs a hand sometimes, so ask! Here's some of the best places I've found to get — and give! — ActionScript help.

• Stack Overflow is my favorite community for all kinds of code Q&A. Try their actionscript-3 tag
• Actionscript.org has an active AS3 forum
• Kirupa.com has active forums as well as tutorials
• gotoAndLearn() has awesome step-by-step tutorials on many subjects
• And don't forget their AS3 forums
• A bit old-school, but the Flashcoders mailing list is a good place to discuss ActionScript topics

Don't forget that there's like a zillion awesome ActionScript blogs you should read and tweeters you should follow. (Cough cough.)
